Barbara Hadwin Clark
Barbara H. Clark, 93, died Thursday, March 27, 2014. At Peace. Mrs. Clark was a native of Furman, South Carolina, but had lived in Savannah since an early age.
Mrs. Clark is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John R. Clark, Jr., her son, John R. Clark, III, her parents, Walter E. and Ruby Wilson Hadwin, her sister, Eloise H. Dasher, and two brothers, Walter E. Hadwin, and Arden H. Hadwin.
She retired from the food service business as owner of the Desoto Truck Stop Restaurant which she operated for many years.
A longtime devoted member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church, she was coordinator of the nursery department for many years. During her tenure as coordinator she often had in excess of one hundred infants and toddlers under her supervision. Barbara took great pride that the nursery was the only nursery in the Savannah Baptist Association that met the required standards of the Georgia Baptist Association. She devoted a great effort in organizing nurseries in all thirty-two churches in the Savannah Baptist Association.
Mrs. Clark is survived by two granddaughters, Angela Morgan Thomas Mark, and Amanda Clark Wilson Donald, four great-granddaughters, Victoria, Julia, Arlina, and Audrey. Her daughter-in-law, Sandra H. Clark, a sister, Margaret H. Porter Roy, and one brother, Lynford B. Hadwin, and one sister-in-law, Lydia H. Hadwin.
The family will receive visitors a Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, conducted by the The Rev. Dr. Robert Woodall. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Both Barbara and her deceased husband, John R. had a great love for homeless animals. The family requests that flowers be omitted and remembrances be made to the Humane Society. She would say please and thank you.

Mrs. Clark kept us on our toes at Savannah Square and will be dearly missed. She was a woman full of wisdom and I enjoyed hearing some of her stories during my time working with her. May God be with all of her family during their time of loss.
